I approach a very nicely-dressed Hispanic woman, and the following conversation ensues.
Me: “Hi, is there anything I can help you find today?”
Cust.: “Well, you probably think I’m too poor to shop at a place like this because you greeted that man over there but completely ignored me.”
Me: “I’m so sorry I gave you that impression! I must not have seen you!”
Cust.: “No, don’t bother. I don’t want to hear it. Do you have Ivanka Trump shoes here?”
Me: “I’m really sorry, no, we don’t.”
Cust.: “Fine. What’s your name?”
Me: “[Leo].”
Cust.: “Okay.” *leaves*
It’s been a few days since that happened and I haven’t heard of any customer complaints. I did alert two of my managers to the situation right after it took place, just so they could have my side of the story first.
